Apple Safari 5 Review...As you are likely already aware of, Apple released Safari 5 on Monday shortly after WWDC 2010. Safari (of course) being Apple's web browser which is included on all current Mac computers. I have always been a Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox user but over the past few days I have been using Safari 5 as my default web browser to try and learn its pros and cons. The browser has its fair share of both so for those of you thinking Safari 5 is perfect, you might want to reconsider. If you are prepared to be faced with a few UI issues, Flash throwing temper tantrums and specifically for the Windows user, a Mac-ish UI, Safari might be a good choice. Although, Safari 5 has several new features included with this release. Chafer bugs apple tree vermin get s...The lesser ground chafer bug (there are many varieties, this is the one that plagues our orchard) hatches out in vast numbers from the grass on warm days in late May, flies up onto our apple trees, and bites into baby apples. The apples die or else survive horribly deformed and unsaleable. Last year chafer bugs destroyed 30% of the crop by early June. I was beside myself with distress at the destruction, I literally went on my knees and begged God to help us. By the way, I recommend this approach for a wide range of difficulties, although results are not often immediate or dramatic. Some starlings turned up and ate a few of them, and in the end we had a decent although reduced crop, but terrible damage was done. This ruinous pest is not mentioned in most of the books we own. Julia felt guided to use a particular insecticide (its advertised in the trade journal but I dare not name it due to regulations in Britain. Its not on sale to the general public-I have a pesticide application licence I had to do a 2 day course and an exam to obtain). We sprayed the trees just before the expected hatch out of chafer grubs, they flew into our trees as feared, they took a few bites and THEY DIED. We are so thankful. Just look at how many of the vermin there are in the trees I found in this film-imagine each one destroying 4 apple fruitlets?!!! This was the second spray of the year so far, the first was pre-blossom fungicide only, this was insecticide plus fungicide. If you spray, first <b>...</b>
